Came across your blog by chance. This is my family home. My grandfather was a diamond merchant who came from Martapura in South Kalimantan. We are a race called the Banjar. My dad and his siblings grew up in this house and for many many years this was the place where the entire clan gathered for our many family gatherings. I even had my engagement ceremony in this house! Sadly the family decided to sell the house some years ago. Lucy for us we still have our family home in the heritage district area of Kampung Glam.

Hi Faizah,

Really fantastic to see your comment. It's beyond our widest imagination that the family members of the owner of the house will see the video we made! Possible to provide us the name of your Grandfather?

I am CK Peng, the instructor for the groups of Chinese teachers who made the video. We were guessing who is the owner of the house and try to figure out why it has been left to ruin.

We asked around and got this info from the neighbour which we narrated in the video (seems we don't get the facts quite right. :) We said that the neighbour told us the house belong to a Arab. He lived there with his 5 kids. After he passed away the house has been sold. By the time we did the shooting. The house has ben vacant for 15 years. (If Kak Faizah can provide more info.) I will make a clip at the back of the movie to explain the origin.

I think when I passed by the place last year, I saw the building was gone! Really happy to have you seeing our video.

Your family home in Kampong Glam is also a heritage house. I stay at Jalan Berseh which is so near to Kg. Glam. Maybe we can make a documentary on your house. I can be contacted at ckpeng@gmail.com.
